KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 1, 2007): Federal Commercial Crimes Investigations Department director Datuk Ramli Yusuff today claimed trial to three charges - two for non-disclosure of assets and a third charge for involvement in business while being a public servant - in a sessions court here today.

On the first charge of non-disclosure of assets under Section 32(2) of the Anti-Corruption Act 1997, Ramli allegedly failed to declare the ownership of two lots of business suites in the Megan Avenue II building located on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng here.

The value of the two office units, during acquirement, was worth RM1, 032, 840 million and was held by two directors of Bonus Circle Sdn Bhd who were named as Ramli’s elder and younger sisters, Rohmah@ Hasmah Yusoff and Roslina respectively.

On the second charge, Ramli allegedly failed to declare the ownership of 154,000 units of shares in Permaju Industries Sdn Bhd.

The two offences were allegedly committed by Ramli at the ACA headquarters in Putrajaya on Sept 17, for failing to adhere to the written notice, under Setion 32(1)(a) of the Anti-Corruption Act, which requires him to declare in writing and

Datuk Rahim Yusuf under oath, on assets, movable or immovable, owned by him or which he had interest in and also, all sources of income.

The third, a summons charge, alleged that Ramli, on April 25, 2006, being a public servant, a Commissioner of Police holding the position of the director of the Commercial Crimes Investigations Department in Bukit Aman had flouted the Regulation 5(1)(a) of the Public Servants Rules and Regulations (Amendment) 2002 which prohibited him from being involved in business. Tok Mommy,
This is the result for crossing swords with the powerful. Nothing would have happened to him if he were to toe the line and not go against the grain of things. Too bad all faults of his be it minor or major will be dug up to make sure the charges will stick.
Somebody will be able to tell the world he is really fighting corruption albeit a selective one. The rest of the crooks will continue to plunder the nations wealth while taking care that the interest of the powerful is maintained.

No wonder the crime rate has gone up.

They have done nothing much to solve it (Nurin's killer/killers are still at large) instead are busy amassing personal wealth and fighting among themslves.

The rakyat have no more trust or confidence in the police.

Can you blame them?

Scary, isnt it?

Kak Ton,

Ramli took orders from the deputy minister of internal affairs. He was caught in between Johari and IGP.

Rightly or wrongly, this precedent is going to demoralise the police force.

The timing to prosecute him was very wrong. If he had not investigated Tengku Goh, he won't be facing this.

Am not saying Ramli is a saint. Suspect a hidden hand to get him at all costs. But I believe Ramli more than the motive of the prosecutors.

Ramli said during pc he was cleared by the ACA b4 his promotion. No reason for him to lie at this stage.

Salam Zawi

I believe there is more than meets the eye. Why this selective prosecution? And why ONLY him?

Elviza: wei, will it be okay with you if he wasnt a Kelantanese? Lol!

Kerp: I know. He is a top-ranking cop. Hey, to be fair, he is innocent until proven guilty.

adik: I agree with you that the general public has lost confidence in the ability of the police to combat crime and maintain law & order.

H &L: You're saying he's a pawn caught in a tug-of-war? Maybe.

I am shocked with some of the bloggers in this country. They are either a confused lot or a pack of hound dogs. When it suits them they will defend the crooks, the thieves and the murderers. When it didn't, they can turn a saint into a devil.

Wake up guys, what are you all doing defending this corrupt cop.How come suddenly corruption become so acceptable .Weren't you all screaming your heads off telling the government to bring to book those involved in corruption. Now, when the government took action, you call it selective prosecution.

Be consistent, stand on your principle, if you have any.

I have a feeling this comment may not be posted.

Princess journal: Kak ton/ kak maria that's me.

Dont get me wrong. I DON’T condone corruption. I hate corruption. I am contemptuous of people in authority abusing their positions for personal gains. I am outraged, to say the least, when policemen are exposed violating the law. The reason is simple. Their deviance elicits a special feeling of betrayal.

Get them, I say, But it seems to me this case is politically motivated. Getting at someone who perhaps, does not see eye to eye with his boss .

He has already come in the open and is under public scrutiny. He has been charged.

Let him get his fair share of of justice.

Samseng: You’re very prsesumptious on two counts that:

1) I wont approve your comment amd

2) I condone corruption.

Like most rakyats, the Government has my full support in its fight against corruption.

But for heavens sake, don’t be selective. What happened to the case of ex Klang Councillor Datuk Zakaria or that one-eyedd Jasin MP?

Don’t stop at Datuk Ramli. Go clean up the whole police force, especially its narcotics, anti- vice and traffic departments (hey, they are money-making units); after EVERY corrupt politician, all government departments (Immigration and Customs) and all local councils,

Give people power and discretion regardless of their position in any organisation, for sure, some will use their position to enrich themselves.

The ACA must have the balls to go after the corrupt – without FEAR or FAVOUR!

Salam Ma'am,

Reading you reply to Samseng, I would court you if you were not already married :) No offence, but you're my kind of lady! Tabik!

Btw, I had wanted to comment earlier, but the fonts were much to small for my eyes. Now, its large and lovely as you (bukan jack ni! Hey, I have nothing to gain...unless you have a beautiful daughter still available! :) )

Mohon maaf Kak Eton, bergurau saja ye. Yok! Ke Dataran Merdeka this 10 November!

Kak Ton,

Agree with your opinion. Ramli is innocent until proven guilty. We can't judge him based on his wealth accumulation alone. How he acquires it, is the question. He had said he had got clearance by the PSD to form the company as beneficiary of the land given to him by the Sabah state govt.

We all know govt servants are not allowed to do business. But all along the govt is closing one eye to teachers moonlighting at the expense of their students. The health ministry is also mulling the idea of medical officers to run private clinics on the side while off duty.

Conflict of interest arises when their official duties and responsiblities are compromised.

Thank you for giving me space to express my opinion.

Cakapaje: Sorry, anak2 pompuan dua-dua dah berumahtangga. Lol!

You see, journalists are open to temptations too; they can also be on the receiving end of bribes to ensure favourable coverage of an event or perhaps a politician.

The kind of bribes is dependent on one’s position in the organisation’s hierarchy.

When, my father was in the NST in the early 70s, (at a time when NST was a respected newspaper) a certain Chief Minister offered him a Datukship and a piece of land. It was not just any land, but hectares of timber land. Honest!

He turned down both.

“Sell my soul and I wont be able to stand tall," he said.

hi Kak Ton, looking forward to your mee rebus again..and i think it'll be quite soon.

Kak Ton,

Syabas to Pak Samad. Takes great courage and will to walk away from an irresistable offer.

Ang pau journalists are no more an exception in any part of the world.

Am now reading The flame Tree by a Malaysian lawyer based in London. I learnt a thing or two abt corporates buying people.

The story is set in London, Taiping and KL. The main character is a young successful lawyer but she tried to run away from her past and how it haunted her.

These are trying times. To regain public confidence, the police have to sort out their internal problems first. Losing their reputation is easy. Regaining it would be an uphill task.

Hi&Lo said...

Kak Ton,

From your last reply to cakapaje: “Sell my soul and I wont be able to stand tall," he said.

Whatever we may have is only an illusion. What we are is the truth.

What we believe defines our priorities. If we live in lies, we may cheat the world but we can't cheat ourselves.

Not all of us can achieve the heirachy of power but we all have equal opportunities to have moral authority. What is power if we don't have the latter?

With moral authority comes respect.

Samseng, which blogger is defending Ramli. Sweeping statements wont help.
Be specific! Name the blogger. "When it suits them they will defend the crooks, the thieves and the murderers. When it didn't, they can turn a saint into a devil."
Samseng, who defended a crook; which blogger defended a thief; and who is that asinine blogger who defended a murderer? And please name the saint we bedeviled? Nazri? The railway gate-keeper? Zam? One-eyed from Jasin? Badruddin from Jerai? The bocok buffoon from Sabah? Our truly-asia travelling salesman? Leaky Samy? The sickly Minister of Transport?
Anyone here got a wiff of a government cyber rat? Its their pee that gives them away. Back to your hole samseng, where you belong. Go scavenge for dirt somewhere familiar to your type. This sure ain't a place for you. We bloggers, male and female have scrotal gumption and cuntal courage respectively. "I have a feeling this comment will not be posted." you assumed. You sure made an ass of yourself there. Back to your hole, ratty.
