Cops to quiz blogger over Al Jazeera interview

Blogger Jeff Ooi of Screenshots has been summoned by the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) pertaining to three police reports filed by the Malaysian Islamic Consumers Association (PPIM), Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (KIMMA) and Pertubuhan Seni Silat Ikatan Kalam Malaysia.

On Nov 18, the New Straits Times (NST) reported that the three groups were against “a statement issued by Ooi to an Al Jazeera reporter”, and that they wanted this blogger investigated.

According to media reports, the three groups alleged that the interview given to Al Jazeera “not only tarnished the image of the country but was also seditious and caused racial tension”.

Ooi was a studio guest at Al-Jazeera on Nov 10 to provide live commentaries as BERSIH Rally took place concurrently.

The appointment with the Bukit CCID has been fixed for 2pm, December 10, which coincides with the UN’s World Human Rights Day.

Why is someone always 'police-report happy' when it comes to bloggers? Is this harrasment? I'm not in defence of Jeff but see how fast the authorities act when a report is lodged againts persons deemed to act against the governmnent's interest?

Is this one-way democracy?

I saw jeff's interview with Al Jazeerah. I dont think he said anything against the government.

Dont know what these guys are up to. Nak "membodek" tak kena pada tempat.

If anyone who should be taken to task for giving the country a bad image, it is the Minister of Information.

Shall we all lodge a report to the police against Zam yang merapu tak tentu pasal.

Sungguh mengaibkan di mata dunia seorang Menteri Malaysia yang sungguh hysterical ketika di ineterview oleh Al jazeerah.

Polis tak der kerja lain ke?

Go look for Nurin's killers, yang masih berkeliaran, kan lebih baik?
