Abdullah to decide within two days

Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will announce his decision on whether he would defend the Umno presidency either tomorrow or by Wednesday. (read Malaysiakini here and the Star here ).

“I will decide tomorrow or Wednesday,” said Abdullah at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur, after meeting the international advisory panel members for Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation.

He said that his decision would be conveyed to the Barisan Nasional (BN) supreme council which will hold a meeting on Wednesday.

Political pundits are already predicting that Abdullah will call it a day, paving the way for his deputy Najib Abdul Razak to take over the reins of Umno.

By convention, the Umno president becomes the prime minister and head of the BN.

On Sept 26, the Umno supreme council postponed its annual general assembly and supreme council elections to next March to facilitate the early transition of power.

Abdullah had also said then that he would decide by Oct 9 on whether to defend his Umno presidency.

As of now, at least three leaders — Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed — had indicated their willingness to contest the No 2 post. - Reports from the Star & Malaysiakini.

He has every right whether to defend his post or not.
We'll all have to just wait and see about this one.
No need to waste time trying to guess whether he may or may not.

AAB's agonising (6)
To be or not to be!
That's what is haunting me!
Do my Party really wants to ditch me?
My peoples have to decide and not me!

To be or not to be!
Time is not on my side!
Whatever will be will be!
It's not for me to decide!

To be or not to be!
Should I the warlords bowed?
Whatever will be will be!
Am I so easily cowed?

Let it be, let it be!
Perhaps, the real grassroots should decide!
Whatever will be will be!
To the delegates I'll gladly abide!

Tok Mommy,

Tun Dr Mahathir was quoted as saying he doesnt believe that Pak Lah will announce that he will NOT defend his post. That is to say he might just decide to defend the post of party president.

"Saya dapati Pak Lah ini suka berdolak-dalih. Selagi beliau belum buat pengumuman, saya tak percaya.

"Macam-macam beliau janji, semuanya beliau tak tunaikan janji," katanya.

We will juts have to wait & see.

Why are we so busy wondering whether Pak Lah will defend his UMNO Presidency or not.If he does will the rising prices of food plummet? Will the country's economy become better? Then again, under a new leadership can that happen? If so,help the PM now!Aren't the leaders suppose to work as a team?Don't tell me Pak Lah tak bagi good ideas be carried out immediately! We are not having a one-man show running or ruining the economy rgt? Kena tunggu Pak Lah resign baru boleh improve the suffering economy?Wheres the so-called teamwork?Bz jostling for powerful positions?
