Pak Lah: Stop asking me on handover date

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi asked the media today not to pester him on the date for the transition of power.

He urged the media to be patient and said that it would happen in due course.

"Just wait. Don't ask me to say anything. All will happen when the time is right.

"The transition will take place," he said when asked if it was true that the handing over will happen right after he meets the King this Thursday to seek his consent to step down.

Pak Lah had announced in his winding-up speech at the close of the Umno general assembly last Saturday that he would meet the Yang di Pertuan Agong on April 2 to inform him of the transition plan that will see him hand over the country’s top post to his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.

The proper handover ceremony will be arranged once the Yang di Pertuan Agong consents "to my desire to resign", he told delegates.

Pak Lah had surrendered a few months ago.We should not expect him to continue, especially, after he had admitted failure to do what he had promised.Let the man retired peacefully.Time to do some gardening and snooze away without having to worry about peoples trying to stab him from behind!I am sure Pak Lah has no inclination to imitate his predecessor who does not know retirement

I guess Pak Lah should know why people kept on asking the same "when to retire" question.

He made people nervous.

Lee, if his predecessor retired like you wished and did not say anything, Pak Lah would still be thinking that he has done such a wonderful job and deserved to be a PM until his SIL can take-over.

Wonder if that is your wish...

To straycat's strut,

No, that is not my wish.A person should not overstay.Like the other PMs, Dr. Mahathir had contributed to Malaysia, but after 2000 his time was up and he knew it.That was why he,ultimately, retired in 2003.He
should withdraw completely from public life as time is not on his side.Running down another person is just not right. It is not only vindictive, it is vicious.I wonder whether he can sleep peacefully at night.Spewing venom and inciting racial feelings are not what a statesman should do!
