Chua Jui Meng joins PKR

Macam mana nak percaya cakap politician.

Two days ago it was widely rumoured that the former Health Minister would be joining the Opposition party, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

When he was posed the question Datuk Chua Jui Meng denied it saying that was not the first time that there had been talk of him joining the opposition.”

And today the Star reported that he has joined PKR.

Chua Jui Meng quits MCA, joins PKR

PETALING JAYA: Former health minister Datuk Chua Jui Meng quit MCA to join Opposition PKR on Saturday.

He was also joined by former MCA Senator David Yeoh and former Lumut MP Yap Yit Thong.

Chua said that he was joining PKR to help preserve the two-party system that had emerged after the polls last year.

“I know that I am leaving the comfort and security of my present life for a road less travelled, a tough and rough road and that ahead of me awaits hardships.

“I am prepared for this last hurrah of my life,” he said.

In Kuala Lumpur, MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said he was saddened by Chua’s move.

He expressed regret that Chua left the MCA when the party needed to strengthen itself after the Barisan Nasional lost several states to the Pakatan Rakyat in last year’s general elections.

“We should be united to face hardships together.

“I’m sad for his leaving, but I wish him the best,” Liow told reporters Saturday after opening the TSM Wellness Sdn Bhd pilates and yoga lifestyle club.

Congratulations En. Chua Jui Meng for making the decision to leave MCA and BN. When you were the Health Minister you were one of the few Ministers who really performed. That you were in the wrong Party became obvious a few years ago.Somehow, you
tried your best to bring about some changes but to no avail. The timing of your move to PKR is good.I hope others in BN who also believe in a two coalitions system
will be courageous to do what you have done.Malaysians should be given the right to choose between the two coalitions. If one underperforms we should have the
right to choose the other.The
ruling coalitions must not be allowed to undermine the opposition by persecuting and intimidating them by using national
institutions.

Here's what Dato Chua said as to why he has chosen to leave BN/MCA:

It is in these times of trouble and crisis for PKR and Pakatan Rakyat that has precipitated my decision to join them. It is in these difficult circumstances that I want to contribute in humility to the preservation of this two-party system. My hope is that ordinary Malaysians will stand up and be counted in the struggle to protect, preserve and promote the growth of this system. Count me in.

Good for you. It's never too late to fight for what you believe in, Dato.

Salute!

Tok mommy,

Dr Chua said at a press conference yesterday after he joined PKR that he was misquoted by the press (abt denying joining PKR).

He said he neither denied nor confirmed that he was joining PKR.

However, he told the journalists that they would know when the time was right.

Just wondering said...

Would he join PKR if he had won the MCA presidency?

kimmy,

Now we can assume that when a politician denies something that is rumoured, then it is the truth.

Ahhh, politicians. Why cant a straight question be answered with a straight answer.

He answered.

It was actually half truth by skirting the question.

Hi kimmy & seri,

Yeah, the smart-alec kind of answer – which politicians are famous for and good at.

Reminds me of Pak Lah and his guessing-game, the “yes, but no, but yes, but no, but yes...’’, and who dismisses rumours which turned out to be true (my son not involved in scomi and I’m not married...Right, they were rumours!).

But hey, doesnt mean I dislike him (Datuk Chua). In fact, I find him extremely charming. :)
