Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he met Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak after the Prime Minister said he would not stop the meeting.
However, he did not disclose what they discussed.
The meeting, which lasted about two hours, is learnt to have taken place last Sunday evening at Najib's official residence Sri Satria in Putrajaya.
Last Wednesday, Mahathir claimed he tried to set up a meeting with Najib immediately after the general election to discuss current affairs - a move that purportedly did not go well with Abdullah.
However, the next day Abdullah said he had not prevented Najib from meeting Dr Mahathir saying : “Tak ada halang, tak ada .”
“After Pak Lah said that, we met. He said he wanted to meet so I met him, lah,” Dr Mahathir told reporters yesterday after launching the book Kismet, a biography on the life, contributions and sacrifices of the late Sher Mohamed Allah Baksh.
On the claim by Kota Belud MP Abdul Rahman Dahlan that he had been offered enough money for three generations to join PKR, Dr Mahathir said:
“It’s all about money today. If there’s money, they can jump into any boat.
“All of them dare not speak out because of money. They want positions.”
On DAP chairman Karpal Singh not budging from his position on the Sultan of Perak ordering the reinstatement of the state religious head who had been removed by the Mentri Besar, he said
“That’s what happens when the Government is weak. The people don’t respect you anymore.”
