PI retracts stunning statutory declaration & produces a new one

Update:

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has expressed absolute surprise that PI Balasubramaniam has retracted his first Statutory Declaration which they insist he made voluntarily, according to a Star report. (PKR 'absolutely surprised' by Bala's retraction)

PKR vice-president R. Sivarasa said he believed Balasubramaniam had been under pressure by "interested parties" to withdraw the first statutory declaration that had been released yesterday..

He said it was obvious that someone or "interested parties" got Balasubramaniam to change his statement, adding that there was a pattern of manipulation in this.

He said that during the press conference (at the PKR headquarters on yesterday) "...you can tell from his demeanour that he was speaking voluntarily."

"Then he changes overnight. This is very unusual," said Sivarasa who is a lawyer by profession.

Earlier story:

Malaysiakini reports that Private detective P Balasubramaniam today retracted his stunning statutory declaration which had linked Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to murdered Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Balasubramaniam, a former PI to political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, retracted several paragraphs of his statutory declaration which he made less than 24 hours ago and has replaced it with a new Statutory Declaration.

He told a press conference that he had been forced to make the declaration under duruss, although he didnt say who forced him to affirm the first declaration.

Among the parts retracted are that Najib introduced Razak to Altantuya and that the DPM had a sexual relationship with her.

Private detective P Balasubramaniam today retracted his stunning statutory declaration which had linked Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to murdered Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.

The said declaration also had claims that Najib had a sexual relationship with Altantuya and that he was the one who had introduced Altantuya to Abdul Razak Baginda.

Balasubramaniam said that he was forced to make the declaration under duress.

At a press conference in a hotel in Kuala Lumpur this morning, he produced a new statutory declaration. Also with the PI was his new lawyer. His lawyer, Americk Sidhu, who was with him yesterday was unaware of the latest development.

The press conference is still underway.

Yesterday Balasubramaniam made shocking revelations that he had heard from Abdul Razak himself on the links between Najib and Altantuya.

But today he said that he wanted to withdraw the first statutory declaration filed on July 1 and replace it with the new one which he revealed today.

"I wish to retract the first declaration. I was compelled to affirm the July 1 declaration under duress," he said.

He however did not reveal who forced him to affirm the first declaration. Balasubramaniam was hired by Abdul Razak to deal with Altantuya in 2006 when she started 'harassing' the former head of think-tank and a close confidant of Najib.

In his Statutory Declaration yesterady, Balasubramaniam claimed that the police had omitted pertinent information allegedly linking Najib with the Altantuya murder case, although he said he had informed police what Razak had purportedly told him prior to Altantuya's murder.

(This is just unbelievable. A real circus but ...it's no laughing matter! What's next? )

Hello tok,

Waa..so easy to change into a new one? With his statement only the chaos in the country become more hype. Stockmarket suspended and tumble down.

Anwar is going overboard. This is too much. He is making the country collapse in just days. Please Dollah send these reckless politician under the detention of ISA. We dont want this crook person to lead our country.

I'm also confused. Since the court is still in trial, why dont Bala go to court and voice out? Why have to make SD and create havoc to the country?

Why did suddenly he change into a new SD? Atleast this could clear a good impression towards Najib.

Kak

First, just want to say that I disagree with wisdomthinker (above) in saying that Pak Lah should send "these reckless politician under the detention of ISA". In no way should the ISA be used against anyone. That is my stand.

As for this "circus", I am shaking my head in disbelief. My heart is crying for Malaysia. What is to become of her?

Anwar is going full force now conquer the country.
What is going to happen to Malaysia in near future?
More sex scandal in waiting?

Has Bala been threatened that he'd be c4-ed?

Puan Maria

Kalo kita jumpa ini macam punya orang sama ular, kita pukul orang dulu baru kita pukul ular. Once a policeman always a policeman. Saya nampak sekarang undang-undang macam jual ikan di pasar saja, sapa saja boleh beli. SD hanya RM4 bila-bila masa boleh buat fitnah orang kau-kau selepas 24 jam tarik balik woh! senang betul sekarang mahu kasi kawan dan anak isteri malu.

It is so obvious that even a blindman can see what is happening. That man was called to the police station yesterday and now he issued a retraction. Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq0cQuBwAyg

and follow the dots.

How to belief the "stat Dec", if he can pull out one section?

My bet is that he will subsequently make claim that the statement was retracted under duress -- another script written by DSAI, mainly to frame Najiblah. Mungkin sebab ada orang dah janji bahwasanya kalau DSAI boleh get rid of Najib, maka orang tersebut akan melantik DSAI menjadi PM

The "stat dec" is so silly, so much so I am stunt that some individual could believe it.

I got this from nat tan:
http://jelas.info

If what he (Bala)said today is TRUE, and that he was previously forced to make a false SD, will the police file a report against him? Who forced him? Will they investigate? And who/what convinced him to go public with it? And he even stood by it at the press conference yesterday.

If what he said today is FALSE, then who is forcing him to retract his previous SD? Why is he retracting it? Why did he change his lawyer? Does he, or does he not know how serious an offense this can be? (I’m still under the assumption that it is an offense, waiting for someone to either correct me, or confirm it with me)

I have one question for the people/person who are/is pulling the strings behind this. What do you take us Malaysians for? Dungus?

Anwar, banyaknya drama kamu. Kami tak sabar nak menunggu episod seterusnya. Cepat lah sikit, nak tengok apa pulak nak jadi ni...

Bala retractede his fisrt SD after he was called to the Bricksfield police station immediately after the press conference yesterday.

“Balasubramaniam’s lawyer has told Malaysiakini that Balasubramaniam was contacted by the police soon after his press conference yesterday. He last saw his client after dropping him off at the Brickfields police station at 4.45pm.”

The question is : Was he threatened?

Only parts which touched on Najib were removed. So what doe4s that tell you?

The SD is made of 55 parts, removing 5 parts and retaining 50 doesn't help you because if you read, they are all intertwined.

In other words, more damage has been done rather than help.

Bala has refused to talk to journalists unlike when he was free yesterday talking to anyone.

He is under duress now and not before.

Again, he didn't remove Najib's officers led by Safri from the blame.

Could this Bala be the 'realiable informant' that RPK said in his SD ?

Another circus.

Is Bala implying Anwar forced him under duress to appear in the pc with SD? But who is Anwar without the machinery behind him to do such a thing?

In the first place, if Bala or anyone wants to take up the cudgel, he better sticks to his gun for his own sake.

But I sympathise with the guy for being under so much duress.

hi&lo:
you said "Anwar had no machinery".

Hello, are you living under the coconut shell? A man with money and influence can buy machinery.

Did he make the 1sts SD or the 2nd SD under duress?

Look at Bala's pics taken on the two respective days: the day he gave the 1st SD and yesterday when he gave the 2nd SD.

They speak for themselves.

(go to http://no2umno.blogspot.com/2008/07/riak-wajah-balasubramaniam.html ).

His first pic shows that of a happy man, but in the 2nd pic he looks...harrased, glum.

By the way, Balasubramaniam's new lawyer comes from the Law Firm of Federal Territory Minister's brother: Zulhasnan Rafiqie.

Go figure the connection.

I agree with anonymous of 11.57 PM that some racist remarks should be deleted and not allowed to stain your blogsite. Those remarks are uncalled for.

That's really laughable.

And hello to you, Anon 8:59AM.

What abt you? U frrom another planet ah?

Najib is the second most powerful man in the country - being the DPM and next in line to the Sleeping Emperor. He is also the Defense Minister.

Doest that tell you anything? And yes, he's rich, he's finacially well-off.

If power+money (which fits Najib) dont tell you anything, I wonder what does.

Thanks Bob for answering for me to Anon 8.59am.

On the balance of probability, who can gempar the Bala more? One with the govt machinery or just money alone?
