Are you ready...?

In less than 24 hours Malaysian voters will go to the polls in the country’s 12th General Election.

The Barisan Nasional Government has called for the election to seek a fresh mandate to rule the country for another term. In 2004, the Barisan Nasional (BN) led by Datuk Abdullah Badawi received an overwhelming mandate from the rakyat who gave him a chance to carry out the much-needed reforms in the country. Unfortunately, his administration has made many serious blunders. (read here and here)

Now the BN is offering Malaysians Security, Peace and Prosperity. The Opposition on the other hand are calling for change, offering a New Dawn for Malaysia, and a caring society.

I haven’t been to many ceramahs – only the ones in my constituency of Kelana Jaya. But I have already made up my mind which candidates and party to vote for. Listening to the ceramahs and meeting the candidates contesting only reinforced my decision to go for them and the party.

The turn-out at the last two Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR ) ceramahs at Dataran Glomac was awesome to say the least. Whether the number attending the various ceramahs by the Opposition will be translated into votes is left to be seen. But the mood (here) is certainly for change.

I hope voters will ask what it is that they want. If you are happy and contented with the state of affairs in the country, then you know who to vote for. But we do know that something is not right in this country. And that has a great deal to do with who were running the country and are now begging for your vote.

The choice is yours. The fate of the country lies with you. The power to make the difference is in your hand. So my fellow Malaysians, vote wisely. Vote with your conscience!
