Earlier story

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has promised to resolve the issue over the appointment of the Perlis menteri besar as soon as possible.

Mat Rawi Kassim, the assemblyman for Beseri, said the prime minister would have discussions with the Perlis Istana on the matter, Bernama reports.

Abdullah had asked all the BN Perlis state assemblymen to return to the state and discharge their duties as elected representatives, after 10 Perlis BN assemblymen met with Abdullah for about 45 minutes at the Prime Minister's Office here yesterday.

Among the assemblymen was Datuk Dr Md Isa Sabu (Bintong) whom the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail yesterday appointed as the new menteri besar of Perlis in place of Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim to whom Abdullah had given the letter of appointment as menteri besar.

Md Isa declined to be interviewed. Shahidan, who had met Abdullah Friday, said the prime minister would meet all the 14 Perlis BN elected representatives soon to resolve the matter.

Mat Rawi said he and the other assemblymen did not intend to have any discussion with Shahidan on the matter.

He also said that the issue of the appointment of the menteri besar did not involve Umno secretary-general and Kangar Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad.

"Datuk Seri Radzi is not involved. We are elected representatives. We represent our constituents, the people who want a change in Perlis," he said.

In the meantime, Star reported that more than 20 banners have sprung up at various locations in Kangar in support of Raja of Perlis's decision to appoint Datuk Dr Md Isa as the new Mentri Besar of Perlis.

It is not known immediately who put up these banners at strategic locationsin the town, such as at roundabouts, near mosques and entrances toresidential areas.

So now it will be the Ruler vs the PM.

How's he going to handle this? Wisdom he doesn't have. Intelligence pun ta ra. So how.

Regarding Mukhriz, Pak Lah has already asked Hishamuddin to handle...er to take action.

In fact. this Perlis crisis, he has handed to Najib, so I hear.

His main concern is to make sure SIL gets a post, at least, of a deputy minister's post.
