Ezam Mohd Nor, Anwar’s former protegy turned adversary has expressed his willingness to stand against his former mentor “to uphold the truth”, according to Malaysiakini.
The other is Pirdaus Ismail who had contested twice in Permatang Pauh has declared his interest for Round Three (Malaysiakini Umno's Pirdaus ready for Round 3 )
Pirdaus, who was defeated in the 2004 and 2008 polls by Anwar’s wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said he is ready to take on the opposition stalwart if fielded as the Barisan Nasional candidate for the seat.
Ezam the former Keadilan Rakyat Youth chief, who is now an Umno member, has declared that Anwar is not a warrior because he had chosen to a safe seat and said he would not reject an offer if chosen as a candidate. ( Malaysiakini - Anwar is no warrior, says Ezam).
"If you ask me whether I am prepared to stand against Anwar Ibrahim, I would say that I am ready and I would not reject such an offer. Victory or defeat is not the main thing. More importantly, it is opposing Anwar as a team to uphold the truth.
"That is why I say do not talk of victory or defeat to me, and do not scare me with the constituency of Permatang Pauh. Do not challenge me because I am a fighter and I will fight," he said.
This was the second time Ezam has offered himself to vie for the seat on behalf of Umno and the Barisan Nasional.
The first time he did so was on Thursday, soon after Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail announced her resignation as the MP for Permatang Pauh to make way for her husband to contest the seat in a by-election.
That Ezam is not a local Penang boy may also prove unfavourable to him in his quest to obtain the Umno ticket.
Meanwhile, Parliament notified the Election Commission of the vacancy in Permatang Pauh yesterday. According to the EC, they will meet on Wednesday to decide on the dates for nomination and polling for the by-election.. – Malaysiakini

(Wah cakap besar. Jangan takbur, bang oi. Belum tentu lagi. So what are you fighting for, Ezam? “To tell truth" (about Anwar)? Is it? It seems to me that is all that you are concerned with - to “expose” Anwar. It's not as though we don’t know after what we've been fed about him. For once . do come up with something more intelligent other than venting out your personal vendetta. I really, really hope Umno will field him as a candidate, let him get slaughtered and lose his deposit!)
