I cannot demand definite time frame of succession plan - Najib

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak says it is improper for him to demand that Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi gives a proper definite time frame to set the succession plan in motion.

"Not for me...I cannot demand, it would be proper if it comes from the president.

"He has the wisdom to decide what is best for the country and I believe that," he told a press conference Wednesday after heading the party's management committee in a closed-door meeting with Selangor Umno leaders in Subang Jaya.

Najib, who is Umno deputy president, said the succession plan was among issues raised at the meeting apart from selection of candidates to vie for posts in the party polls in December.

He said clear guide on the succession plan will be given to Umno members when the time was ripe but at the moment, there was no indication whatsoever on when to implement the transition plan, he said.

"There is no indication of timing yet. When the right time comes, we will give a clearer guide," he said when asked to comment on the pressure from certain quarters on the succession talks.

Bernama has the story "Clearer Guide On Succession Plan When The Time Comes, Says Najib" , here .

( A picture tells a thousand words. What about two pictures? I think the Selangor Umno has spoken - read here. But does Pak Lah get the picture?)

Najib saying all that because of political expediency.

He's just waiting for the right time...before making the "right move."

Dear Kak Ton,

Pretty obvious banners. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi mush have decided to "close one eye, open one eye", and these banners might have been on his "closed eye" side.
He's not biting, not yet anyway.

Only hopefuls would really believed and sticked to this stupid idea of PERALIHAN KUASA (Power Transition) with no definite date, but a definite time frame as far as 2010. Ridiculous!

What happen if someone put a challenge on Najib and won the Deputy UMNO Chief post? Would the transition still valid and demanded for then?

They both are just being realistically and logically, protecting (or saving) their own skins and posts. There is huge possibility that both will lost if anyone braved the river and challenge them both in the upcoming UMNO election. The so-called Transition is, more or less, to ensure that no one will questioning them now and challenging them, later.

Whatever it may be, the options are on Najib. He can shuts himself for now OR he can shuts Abdullah for good. And he is smart able enough to at least think what is good for him, if not UMNO.

Are these two the best that Umno can offer to us the rakyats?

Do we deserve to have them as our leaders?

God help us!
