Rahim Thamby Chik willing to contest any post Umno

Former Melaka Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik wants to contest in the Umno December election.

He is willing to contest any post in the party, including the vice-president or Umno Youth chief if he had the support of grassroot members.

He said he would utilise his experience including as the former Umno Youth chief to restore and consolidate the party.

"As a member of the party, I'm willing to consider contesting any post if there is a support."

(Please-lah Tan Sri, no need to contest. Well, who do we have here... a has-been desperately trying to make a comeback and reclaim (?) his place in the party hierarchy after literally screwing up his political career. He offered himself as a candidate in the recent general election, but wasn't even considered by the party leadership. Now he wants to contest, not for the post of an ordinary council member, but the post of Vice –President and Youth Chief. What makes him think he's wanted? I doubt he’d be considered acceptable. It’s going to be a tough fight, anyway. I think many are eyeing the VP post. There is Mukhriz Mahathir & Khir Toyo, both going for the No. 1 Youth post. And yes, let's not forget, the S.I.L too. So, where do you think you fit in, Tan Sri? Sedarlah dan cermin-cerminlah diri. Your time's up. )

I seems to me that many ex-Umno big shots have this disillusionary complex that they are still wanted by the people after being dumped! "Power" really is addictive!... fully agree... cermin-cerminkan lah diri!

Dear Kak Ton,
I couldn't agree with you more. He must be quite delusional to think that he might still be wanted, after all these years of being dormant. And with such a heavy burden to carry around (the rape case from many years back), I doubt he would be of any good to UMNO currently, especially since the UMNO is also having crashing waves at the moment. He's probably better off just staying quiet.

Kak Ton,

Politics is the art of the impossible. Good reason for this quote cos the most imponderable can happen in politics. Virtues seldom a criteria for success in politics.

Hard to reconcile but scandal-ridden politicians know how to win the hearts of the grassroots. It happens all over the world.
