Now the Home Minister has given his word...

...that Bala will be protected.

Malaysiakini reported that Syed Hamid Albar has given his assurance that private investigator P. Balasubramaniam will receive police protection if he feels his life is under threat.

Balasubramaniam, his wife and three children vanished without a trace last Friday following his retraction of a stunning statutory declaration which implicated Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in the murder of Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu.

It also reported that that Balasubramaniam has finally made contact with his nephew R.Kumaresan late Sunday night via a short telephone call.

"He said he was okay, but could not talk freely," Kumaresan, who stressed this point several times.

Kumaresan, who is said to be very close to Balasubramaniam's family, said that he also managed to talk to the private eye's wife during the brief exchange, who also said that she was "okay".

However, Kumaresan said that he was still unaware of the whereabouts of his uncle and was coy when asked about further details of the conversation.

Meanwhile, police have not ruled out the possibility that Bala is now overseas. (read here and here).

Federal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Mohd Bakri Zinin said besides monitoring Malaysia's entry and exit points , Bukit Aman had contacted Interpol to trace Balasubramaniam.

He reassured Balasubramaniam that he would be safe and “can come with his lawyer, and if he asks for safety guarantee, we will fully cooperate with him by giving him security protection."

The Home Minister and CID director giving assurance to Bala of protection from them & to come out from wherever he & his family are hiding.

Can believe them ah?

With this assurance, we hope that Bala will finally come out from his hiding place and start participating in the investigation.
There's no use to issue SD and then disappear the next day without any further explanation.
If he's really concern with the justice, he should fight all the way.

Actually Bala and family have been asked by PKR/DSAI to go on hiding, this is part of their plan to frame Najib. Now they will go all the way to make claim that Bala had been forced to retract his SD by BN

Bala, come out come out where ever you are.
This has to finish once and for all.
to leave it hanging in the air will create more unnecessary speculation.
